What you can expect in a typical day:
As an experienced Cyber Security Architect, you will use your extensive, hands-on technical knowledge to help us improve and evolve our cyber security program. You will be the lead in maintaining our enterprise security architecture view and plan. You will build relationships with people at various levels to communicate technical language to non-technical stakeholders. As the SME for cyber security architecture, your experience in developing strategic systems architecture plans at an enterprise level will mitigate any risks, particularly for mission critical systems. And while there is a requirement to work on-site from time-to-time in Saint John, NB, we are open to people working remotely.
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Experience leading the architecture and design of enterprise level security solutions across IT and OT systems.
  • Experience developing strategic systems architecture plans that align with overall enterprise IT architecture objectives.
  • In-depth technical knowledge.
  • Proven ability in project planning.
  • Hands-on experience in assessing and communicating cyber security risks.
  • Willing and able to stay current on cyber security knowledge and issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to set realistic deadlines that are always met.

Professional skills:
  • Proven experience building credibility and collaborating with senior business leaders to assess organizational challenges, institute prioritization and deliver results
  • Understand how to build organizational capability and can develop and build a team; ensure the right people are in place to accomplish the organization's goals; dynamic leader that motivates others
  • Technically strong in core cyber security and risk management functions such as: governance, compliance, threat intelligence, attack readiness, event monitoring, human behavior analytics, cyber forensics, data protection, encryption, vulnerability management.
  • Very strong leadership and communication skills are imperative
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people in an easily understandable way.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and get buy-in from key stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable about applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of software evaluation and information processing principles and practices.
  • An analytical and proactive mindset.
  • Enjoy thriving in high pressure environments.

Education and experience:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in IT and cyber security.
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Networking, related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with IAM (Identify Access Management), Network Security, Remote Access, SIEM, and other similar areas Military education and experience a definite asset.
  • Relevant IT certifications such as TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP, etc.
  • Certifications in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • Experience with Project Management methodologies, concepts, and tools; PMP (Project Management Professional) designation an asset.
