The New Brunswick Police Commission, mandated to ensure civilian oversight of policing is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to fill the position of the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission and will be responsible for the administration and supervision of the affairs of the Commission.

The successful candidate will report to the Chairperson of the Commission and will be accountable to the commission members for actualizing its vision, operations and legislated mandate; providing overall management of the Commission personnel and offices and providing ongoing direction to staff ; provide effective collaborative liaison with various stakeholders; will provide leadership and direction in all areas of human resources management, will work with the Board for public communications, and office support infrastructure and processes; ensuring the flow of information to the Commission is accurate, timely and clear, identifying and evaluating problematic issues, executing pertinent research and acquiring relevant information with the view of developing a range of options for decision making.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have 10 years of related experience in a discipline such as law, labour relations, public administration, law enforcement and at least 4 years supervisory experience is also required OR candidates should possess a Bachelor degree in a related social science field and 6 years of related progressively responsible experience with at least 4 years supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for this position. Please state your language capability.

  • Working with a Board
  • Knowledge of investigative reviews

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

  • Knowledge of Conflict Management Practices; and
  • Written Communication.

Salary: $64,350 to $85,644 annually
