The Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour is seeking an individual to join the New Brunswick Public Library Service as Director of the Campbellton Centennial Library.
The Director plans the development of the library through strategic and operational planning; manages the library in accordance with provincial and regional policies and procedures; oversees the recruitment, training, supervision, scheduling and evaluation of staff; promotes the library and its services; participates in collection development for the library and the region; serves as secretary to the library board; manages the library board budget provided by the municipality; works in conjunction with the board and the municipality to maintain the library facility; maintains positive relations with the community and with the staff of the library region; develops partnerships; and manages grants. In addition to managing and overseeing all library operations, the Director will take part in service and program delivery.
As Director of the library playing the role of resource centre for the region, the Director is a member of the regional management team. In that role, the successful candidate will be a key support in developing service in the region; in recommending and implementing regional and provincial programs, priorities, policies and guidelines; in taking part in regional and provincial committees; in leading special projects; and in using his or her expertise to mentor and guide staff of the library region via the development of training and other activities as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Library and/or Information Studies from an ALA accredited program and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience including one (1) year of management and supervision. Experience using e-mail, library automation software, and MS-Word is necessary.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

The following operational requirements are also required: This position requires travel as well as daytime, evening and weekend shifts (based on work schedules). Maintaining the library collections will involve some lifting.
Prior to appointment, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal record check for work with the vulnerable sector.

Salary: $55,406 to $77,402 per annum
