The City of Fredericton's Department of Finance, Innovation & Technology is looking for an IT Support Technician to fill a full time position in our IT Support Help Desk.

IT Support Technician (Help Desk)

You will join a strong, professional, cohesive team who works for the betterment of the team and our City, possesses a strong work ethic, is fiscally responsible & cost conscious, maintains a positive outlook and is a champion of customer service and continuous improvement.

This position is responsible for providing a high level of technical support services to all internal IT customers by assisting with the smooth operation of the Help Desk:

  • Take calls, emails and web support requests for IT support services, and log IT Support work orders
  • Set permissions, enable users on the network
  • Set up new PCs, Laptops, and VDIs for network deployment
  • Install and configure applications
  • Work with external vendors or contractors to purchase equipment and/or resolve support issues in a timely manner

We are looking for someone with a post-secondary education (diploma, certificate, or degree). The ideal candidate will have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network, hardware, and application issues, and have proficient working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point). Experience with Cogsdale, Oracle Cloud, and/or other financial systems is desirable. Prior experience supporting VMWare, and Network and Server Administration would be an asset. 

This position will report to the IT Manager. The work can be challenging and demanding, especially considering the variety of technology and internal customers. To be successful, you must be customer focused, well organized to meet deadlines, take initiative, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
