The Department of Public Safety is seeking individuals to join the Corrections Branch as casual Correctional Officers in Provincial Correctional Facilities located in Miramichi, Shediac, Saint John, Saint Hilaire, Dalhousie and Fredericton. Applicants must note on their applications the locations(s) for which they wish to be considered.

As a Peace Officer and member of the Correctional Officers team, successful candidates will be responsible for the custody and supervision of offenders, enforcing provincial and institutional policies and procedures, preparing incident reports and participating in the development and delivery of offender programs and case management. The use of a computerized system is an integral part of the daily activities.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of an approved post-secondary education in Corrections, Social Sciences, Law Enforcement/Policing or a related field. The certificate of successful completion with regard to the qualifications must accompany the employment application.

Candidates must possess and present a valid NB Driver's license, a valid First Aid certificate, and a valid Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certificate. Certificates of successful completion must accompany applications. Successful candidates will undergo a criminal history clearance/security clearance and be required to complete the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 questionnaire, Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) and, will be required to attend the New Brunswick Correctional Services Academy.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for some positions; written and spoken competency in English is required for others. Please state your language capability.

The following operational requirement is also required: Shift work is required.

SALARY: from $24.53 to $30.08 per hour
