Irving Shipbuilding, located at 3099 Barrington Street Halifax NS B3K 5M7, is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company's primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Coast Guard. Irving Shipbuilding is seeking Riggers for current and/or future opportunities.

Qualifications ? Education, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Comfortable with the operation of machinery
  • Experience/knowledge/ability to perform rigging duties
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Self-starter with the ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, with a good attention span and job focus
  • Willing and open to continuous improvement/training
  • Works independently and with others in a team environment
  • Good physical condition
  • A good attendance record (at or below Shipyard average)
  • Ability to work shift work as required
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training will be considered an asset
Key Requirements:
  • You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job
  • A pre-employment physical is required
  • A background check will be performed by the Company
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
