Overview
Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have an opportunity for a Retail Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team based out of our offices in Stellarton, NS.
The Retail Accounting Clerk will ensure the timely and accurate processing of journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting for the region, complete period end activities included but not limited to margin review, journal entries, and other duties as required, ensure consistency and compliance related to Sobeys policy, and actively contribute to a positive and productive working environment.
Job Description

  • Maintain assigned General Ledger accounts
  • Analyze and assist with inquiries
  • Identify and communicate exceptions and variances
  • Support organizational change through initiatives that improve function-specific processes or performance

  • Effectively exchange basic information with internal and external customers
  • Use clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment

Job Requirements
What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:
Required: 
  • Relevant education in Business/Accounting (i.e. NSCC Diploma or University Degree); equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant work experience within an office environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Integrity and adherence to standards, policy and procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills coupled with an understanding of the commitment to meet and exceed service levels
  • Strong computer skills; Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proven time management, organization, prioritization, and multi tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred: 
  • Accounting work experience
  • Experience in a team driven environment
  • Retail experience
  • Knowledge of SAP
