The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join the Saint John District as Highway Supervisor I-II working in the St. George Division.

As a member of the Saint John District, the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of the division crew, maintaining public relations with the community, overseeing operations and maintenance of equipment, providing effective summer and winter maintenance of highways in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's policies and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Highway Supervisor II: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year civil engineering technology program in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience OR high school graduation and six (6) years of winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as possession of a valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver`s license is also required.

If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.

Highway Supervisor I: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year civil engineering technology program in a related field and one (1) year of related work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience OR high school graduation and four (4) years of winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as possession of a valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver`s license is also required.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Appointment to this position will be restricted to a local area resident.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate recent road construction and/or road maintenance experience. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

The following operational requirements are also required: working on weekends, travel and variable hours.

SALARY:

Highway Supervisor I: $1,557.00 to $1,954.00 bi-weekly (based on a 40 hour work week).

Highway Supervisor II: $1,710.00 to $2,153.00 bi-weekly (based on a 40 hour work week).
