POSITION DESCRIPTION
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer or Technologist to join our Highways Department , located at our Thornhill office. Reporting to the Department Manager this position will be responsible for the delivery of multi-discipline highway design projects (from rural highways to freeway type facilities).
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare technical analysis and design; including cost estimating, quantity calculations, etc.
  • Prepare and review drawings and presentation materials;
  • Manage contract specifications and documentation;
  • Liaison with all discipline team members, sub-consultants, clients and agencies;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post- secondary education with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university;
  • 7 to 15+ years of experience is desired;
  • Professional licencing with PEO membership is an asset;
  • Experience with all aspects of highway / freeway design (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety, CPS, Q-Sheets, documents, constructability);
  • Ability to work with various software packages (i.e. InRoads, Microstation, CAD, Microsoft Office);
  • Experience with technical writing, minute preparation, etc.;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with the ability to effectively prioritize;
  • Ability to estimate design level of effort, meet milestone schedule deliverables etc.;
  • General understanding of traffic engineering principles;
  • General understanding of other road design requirements (e.g. drainage / hydraulic design, environmental design / mitigation measure, engineering surveys, geotechnical investigations and design);
  • General understanding of QA / QC as well as Environmental Health and Safety practices / requirements;
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of sub-consultants;
  • Familiarity with Ontario's regulatory environment and experience with approval processes is an asset;
  • Strong communication and organization skills;
  • Committed team player;
  • A valid driver's license is an asset.
