The Role

Our client is one of BC's Great Places to Work and an international distributor of construction materials, currently looking to add 1 more Counter Sales Representative to the team in Cranbrook, where the primary role will be to greet incoming customers and process their orders, as well as upselling. As the face of the company, top customer service is required.

Among other responsibilities, the Counter Sales Representative will support with inventory cycle counts and the organization of the warehouse. Forklift experience is required for this position.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the shift times for this vacancy are from either 7 AM or 8 AM start until 4 PM or 5 PM, fully on-site.

***Please note this is a temporary to permanent position with a full transition to a permanent role within 3.5 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers, locate products, and handle transactions.
  • Offer product recommendations and answer customer inquiries in person or over the phone.
  • Maintain a clean, organized counter for an optimal customer experience.
  • Stay up to date on products and internal systems.
  • Performing inventory cycle counts and organizing the warehouse using a forklift.

Requirements:

  • 2-3+ years of experience in a similar role within the construction, building materials, or electrical parts industry.
  • Experience and confidence operating a forklift and following safety protocols. A forklift certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written, handling every interaction with great professionalism.
  • A friendly, solutions-oriented individual with customer service or sales experience who enjoys both physical tasks and interacting with people.
  • Inventory cycle count experience is a strong asset.
  • CRM platform exposure and excellent computer skills.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors. Mainly indoors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Teamwork and collaboration with other departments is required.

Compensation & Perks:

  • $40,000 to $50,000, depending on experience.
