Job Description

The Volunteer and Community Resources Department consists of professional administrators who support and facilitate over 1,200 volunteers to enhance the patient experience, assist visitors and positively contribute to Osler's Mission and Vision while demonstrating our Values. Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer and Community Resources, this position is responsible to support the daily activities of the Volunteer and Community Resources Department.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide daily support to a dynamic volunteer resource team and facilitate the success of over 1,200 volunteers
  • Leverage a high degree of skill, confidentiality and expertise in planning and implementing appropriate skills that enable and support volunteers, staff, physicians, partner health care organizations and service providers to enhance service delivery, improve care outcomes and patient and family satisfaction
  • Data entry of daily schedules, LOA, sick time, vacation requests (for both volunteers and volunteer department staff) and payroll entry
  • Data entry of monthly reports
  • Handling all walk-in inquiries for prospective and existing volunteers
  • Follow-up inquiries
  • Assist with day to day activities, requests and reports
  • Assist with scheduling volunteer training sessions and conducting orientations
  • Assist with updating volunteer training materials as required
  • Assist with interview, onboarding and training processes as requested
  • Assist with designing, maintaining, and evaluating innovative volunteer services on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with planning and execution of recognition activities and events
  • Organize and filing volunteer applications and departmental reports
  • Provide leadership and professional role model for volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • College diploma or related experience in volunteer, human resources related field required
  • Demonstrated skills in screening, and selection of appropriate volunteers to support the department needs
  • Accountability for performance and meeting the necessary recruitment targets of the department
  • Experience and expertise in communicating and working in a patient-centred organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce, patient population and community
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to be fair, objective and non-judgmental
  • Outstanding customer satisfaction and follow through skills
  • Highly resourceful, solution-oriented and excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset
  • Ability to travel between sites as required
  • Demonstrated consistency in excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
  • Excellent computer and administrative skills including report writing and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with local community agencies and resources would be an asset

Additional Information

Hours: Currently Days (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Fully Onsite: Roles involved in direct patient care that are needed onsite for each shift

Annual Salary:
Minimum: $54,795.00
Maximum: $68,484.00
