Job Summary:

The Trailer Air Brake Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailer air brake systems and related components. This role requires in-depth knowledge of trailer mechanics, especially air brake systems, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair air brake systems on trailers
  • Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on trailers and braking components
  • Replace or repair brake drums, shoes, valves, chambers, slack adjusters, and other parts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve air system issues including leaks, malfunctions, and adjustments
  • Ensure repairs are completed in compliance with DOT and company safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts used
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and supervisors to prioritize repair schedules
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and safe

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred
  • Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience working with trailer air brake systems
  • Strong knowledge of trailer components and braking systems
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards
  • Ability to operate power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting equipment safely
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and work in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in trailer repair or heavy-duty brake systems
  • CDL license (not required but an asset)
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
