About the Role

Eavor Technologies Inc. is looking for a Research Chemical Engineer to join our Technology Research & Development team. This dynamic role combines technical expertise with project management and strategic alignment. The successful candidate will play a key role in bridging research, product development, and business objectivesensuring innovation initiatives are effectively managed from concept to execution. Responsibilities will also include oversight of intellectual property activities and the R&D budget.


Based in Calgary, Alberta, and working closely with a multidisciplinary, international team, you will help advance the development of the worlds first closed-loop geothermal system.


This permanent full-time, in-office position is located in Calgary, with limited travel required based on business needs.

Some of What you Will Do:

Project Management:
o Managing internal teams well delivery workflows and budget for a large multiple year technology development project
- Coordinating inter-dependencies among different teams
- Managing project critical path timeline
- Scheduling and budgeting for multiple work streams
- Managing project collaboration space and maintaining project documentation


o Leading product development research for Rock-Pipe:
- Research improved Rock-Pipe chemistries
- Design of experimental scopes for screening and validation
- Organize and manage lab testing and analyze results from a scientific and operational standpoint. Identify KPIs and measure compared to baseline
- Collaborate with operational department in the company on Rock-Pipe in the translation of laboratory findings to the field


o Create and maintain standardized project workflows for other research projects within the team in collaboration with project leads


o Collaborate with leaders of each work stream and technical staff to ensure project milestones and deadlines are tracked and delivered

Intellectual Property Management:
o Monitor and track patent action items, working closely with legal counsel and the technology team to ensure Intellectual Property (IP) deliverables and deadlines are met
o Manage IP Committee process
o Manage internal IP database

Manage Finance Interface
o Build 2025 R&D budget and track, report, and manage spending vs budget
o Lead development of external funding applications for R&D
o Budget projection and reporting

Competitor Intelligence
o Lead competitor analysis
- Build and maintain a database of competitors, and track their progress
- Coordinate technical and economic analysis of subsurface heat extraction technologies.

Documentation and Reporting:
o Generate regular progress reports for internal distribution, as well as updates for company-wide and board presentations

Some of What you Will Need:

Must-Have Qualifications

Masters or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience in materials science, chemistry, or a closely related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in geothermal energy research or in managing research activities
Proven experience in preparing and submitting funding applications to agencies such as Alberta Innovates, Emissions Reduction Alberta, NSERC, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM)
Proficiency with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Miro, Jira, Notion, or similar platforms
