Additional Information:
This position is required to work in an environment often dealing with clients in crisis situations or interpersonal situations. Staff are often working on their own, on site. Requires union membership, satisfactory completion of a criminal records search, and Standard First Aid Certificate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates recreational, social and/or educational activities to meet clients needs.
2.Encourages and facilitates clients participation in activities; provides guidance and instructions.
3.Provides skill-building to clients such as life skills and social skills, and models appropriate behaviour.
4.Ensures the safety of clients. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies.
5.Provides age- appropriate activities for children residing in Transition House including suitable craft projects, outdoor games, and quiet inside activities for children in residence.
6.Organize outings for small groups of children and their caregivers staying at Transition House.
7.Provides limited childcare for parents attending appointments or taking care of commitments in-house e.g., Meal preparation, support group attendance, etc.
8.Attends weekly staff meetings to provide information regarding the needs of the children in the house.
9.Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
10.Participates in the overall management of the household by reporting to the appropriate staff person and documenting all safety, supply, and equipment issues (and when necessary, personally assisting in maintaining order in the house).

Certificate in Child and Youth Care, Early Childhood Education or Recreation and six months recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
