Job Description

As a valuable member of the West Campus Conversions Team at MLSE, you will be responsible for delivering championship service throughout the organization. Under the direction of the Senior Manager and Assistant Manager, you will be expected to perform routine duties and complete tasks associated with the day-to-day activities of the Conversion Department within Building Operations at Coca-Cola Coliseum and BMO Field, and the company as a whole. Position: Part-time

  • Oversee arena conversions and event operations for the department, including but not limited to managing unionized staff task lists, hosting shift briefings, and responding to facility labor requests.
  • Learning and understanding detail-oriented manual labor procedures in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Assist with overseeing third-party vendors, long-term planning, shipping logistics, and human resource activities.
  • Support and coordinate scheduled required training for all Conversions staff, including but not limited to forklift, stage building, safe work, and behavioral best practices.
  • Direct supervision of up to 15 conversion staff at one time, ensuring all tasks are completed, meeting high standards, and within strict time frames.
  • Appraising the performance of unionized staff, while rewarding, and addressing complaints. Conflict resolution where required.
  • Assist with the inventory management process, which includes but is not limited to furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Coordinate and communicate with other department supervisors to ensure operational support for real-time fan and venue issues with a focus on health and safety and the well-being of fans and employees.
  • Key contributor in implementing standard operating procedures focused on the long-term success of the venues and the well-being of mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor, create, and close work orders on the internal work order management software.
  • Oversee the installation and dismantling of various conversion equipment, including but not limited to: soccer and football branding, concert staging and chairs, stadium seating, ice-decking, and hardwood basketball court flooring.
  • Collaborate with event managers in setting up and tearing down conference rooms, catering, premium spaces, and dressing rooms before and after events.
  • Continuously review departmental needs and recommend repairs, maintenance, and special projects.
  • Provide detailed shift reports and comprehensive breakdowns for major arena events and conversions.
Qualifications

  • Proven supervisory experience in Production/General labour/Event coordinating or equivalent combination of education and experience, within a large multi-purpose arena, convention centre, or operation.
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays is required, though we do respect a work-life balance.
  • This role will require you to work a variety of shift times, including days, afternoons, and nights
  • Strong demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience in planning, overseeing, and executing events.
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment and weighing decisions with consideration to a collective bargaining agreement and the Employment Standards Act.
  • Ability to multitask and handle several projects at one time, both individually and within a team.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and make sound decisions while working under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail and the ability to prioritize work activities effectively and use time efficiently.
  • Possess a professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
