The Talent

As an Accountant at Appficiency, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of our business. You will manage core accounting functions and payroll processing while contributing to process improvements and compliance across the finance function. You are a detail-oriented and driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong accounting expertise. You demonstrate sound judgment, take initiative, and operate with integrity.

The Commitment
  • Process full-cycle payroll for Canadian employees and support payroll coordination for offshore contractors.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Perform monthly audits on invoices, identify variances, and propose appropriate journal entries.
  • Support bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and monthly close activities.
  • Prepare and maintain financial records, reports, and general ledger entries in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Provide support in calculating employee commissions, bonuses, and termination payouts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and ensure compliance.
  • Support client onboarding from a finance perspective (e.g., billing setup).
  • Lead or support the implementation of new accounting processes or tools.
  • Provide weekly updates to management on receivables and collection status.
  • Support monthly internal and external financial reporting tasks as needed.
  • Take ownership of miscellaneous finance related tasks and projects as assigned.
The Essentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or payroll roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience with general ledger functions, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience using payroll systems such as ADP, PGI or other similar systems.

Preferred

  • CPA designation (or working toward CPA certification).
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and payroll systems.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, Lucidchart, or similar business tools.
