Position Overview

As a Senior Estimator, you will lead the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for industrial construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to develop detailed cost breakdowns and identify value-engineering opportunities. Your expertise will directly contribute to securing new work and ensuring financial success across a portfolio of complex, technical builds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full-cycle estimating process for industrial construction projects, including conceptual budgets, schematic estimates, and detailed tenders.

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.

  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

  • Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost summaries based on labor, materials, equipment, and project schedule.

  • Collaborate with preconstruction, operations, and design teams to ensure alignment on project scope, constructability, and budget.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and risks.

  • Support business development by preparing cost estimates and pricing strategies for RFP responses and client presentations.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value-engineering alternatives.

  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating tools.

  • Mentor and support junior estimators and team members, promoting knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in estimating within the industrial construction sector; experience with food production or logistics facilities is a strong asset.

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of industrial building systems, process equipment integration, and construction methodologies.

  • Proficiency in estimating software (such as HCSS, WinEst, Sage Estimating, or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with Ontario construction regulations, codes, and procurement processes.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Proven track record of successfully bidding and securing complex industrial projects.
