Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Senior Development Officer plays a vital role in securing philanthropic support by connecting passionate donors with the projects and priorities that matter most. Key Accountabilities:
Major Gift Fundraising and Donor Engagement
- Donor Meetings and Relationship Building Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects at the $10,000$1M+ level, participating in donor meetings to cultivate, solicit and steward major gift relationships.
- Proposal & Case Development Draft and edit compelling proposals and case materials in alignment with Foundation priorities and individual donor interests.
- Customized Stewardship Implement individualized donor engagement and stewardship plans that deepen relationships and demonstrate impact.
- Prospect and Pipeline Management Work with the Prospect Research team to support donor pipeline development, qualification, and cultivation strategies.
Database Management & Reporting
- Generate and analyze database metric reports to track fundraising progress, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making.
- Accurately record and track gift solicitations in the database, ensuring proper coding and documentation for reporting purposes.
- Maintain meticulous tracking of donor interactions and engagement activities within the database to ensure effective relationship management.
- Data Integrity and Documentation Ensure accurate and consistent documentation of donor activity in Raisers Edge and related internal systems.
Performance Management and Reporting
- Metrics Accountability Maintain personal donor metrics and ensure timely documentation of engagement activities within internal systems.
- Support the development and implementation of new programs and fundraising initiatives.
- Participate in signature events, and their follow-up and evaluation to inform future planning.
- Assist with donor stewardship activities, including communications and recognition efforts.
Required Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- University degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a fundraising or communications/marketing context.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts in the $10,000 to $1M+ range.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with high-net-worth individuals, volunteers, and senior leadership.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- Experience with the Raisers Edge CRM system.
Assets:
- CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) designation is considered an asset.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel locally as needed.
- Experience with the Raisers Edge CRM system.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote).
