The Opportunity:

We're looking for an RESP/RDSP Registered Plans Specialist to join our Operations team.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Specialty Products , the RESP/RDSP Registered Plans Specialist is responsible for ensuring the overall administration of Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP), and Registered Savings Disability Plans (RDSP) are consistent and in accordance with company policies, Employment Services Development Canada (ESDC), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and CIRO (formerly MFDA and IIROC) regulations.

The RESP/RDSP Registered Plans Specialist is a subject matter expert (SME) who provides guidance and quality assurance for the RESP/RDSP Plan Administrators and is the departmental contact for internal and external audits.

What your day looks like:

  • Subject Matter Expert of CIRO (formerly IIROC and MFDA) RESP plans administration, providing guidance to Registered Plan RESP Administrators, ensuring quality of work
  • Point of contact for the administration of RESP plans and all product related processing of requests such as contributions, withdrawals (EAP/PSE/CWD/AIP), transfers, specialized transactions, etc.
  • Review various documents for accuracy and ensure transactions are completed within Service Level Agreement
  • Complete reporting/filing to CRA and ESDC for RESP accounts, including monthly, quarterly and annual filings. Participate in CIRO and ESDC audits adhering to internal and regulatory deadlines and guidelines
  • Review and confirm account setup on systems, with special attention to reviewing of government incentive and Annex forms for RESPF
  • Responsible for trustee reporting, working closely with trustees to ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to and communicated accordingly
  • An active participant in projects, industry meetings, year-end government reporting and audits
  • Create procedures and training materials and ensure current procedures are up to date and compliant with industry and government rules and regulations
  • Contribute to process improvements

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Post-secondary degree in business or financial administration preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in registered plans administration in a CIRO (formerly IIROC or MFDA) environment
  • Industry knowledge of CIRO (formerly MFDA and IIROC), ESDC, CRA and RQ rules and regulations
  • Completion of the CSC or IFIC is an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, in particular Excel
  • Experience with Dataphile is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including providing guidance and support to team members
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment meeting Service Level Agreement and time sensitive deadlines
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English is required and French is an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
