Who is a Director of Enterprise Architecture?
The Director of Enterprise Architecture has overall accountability for defining a technology roadmap for the enterprise, driven by business strategy and vision. In doing so, defining an architectural framework for applications system development and integration efforts. The Director of Enterprise Architecture will provide guidance and leadership to the Technology and Information teams in the implementation of the various elements set forth by the established architectural standards and guidelines. The Director of Enterprise Architecture works closely with the Technology and Innovation leadership team, developers, product owners, digital experience leaders and other stakeholders to facilitate consensus on our enterprise architecture strategy that impacts the lives of hundreds of thousands of Canadians, every single day in and out of the clubs.
The Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for directing the development, implementation and maintenance of standards, guidelines and statements of direction for GoodLife's Architecture strategy. The Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible to develop an integrated view of the enterprise using repeatable patterns, a cohesive framework, and industry standard techniques.
What will you be doing?
- Creates and maintains a visionary enterprise architecture roadmap to align business strategy and needs.
- Develops architectural diagrams that document project plans and production systems. Assists the Technology team with the specification of design patterns, development standards, best practices, coding styles and other development guidelines to be followed.
- Advises on cross-enterprise integration of business processes, technology solutions, data, Member experience, etc. to drive competitive capability, innovation, and new revenue
- Defines and documents efficient and transparent architectural principles, standards, and guidelines regarding the proper use and deployment of business applications, data, and technology within GoodLife.
- Assesses critical program-wide production problems to evaluate solutions, advise on recovery, and ensure resolution.
- Develops and maintains a strong understanding of enterprise's businesses. Understands current and future needs of the business and aligns technology roadmap to deliver upon those needs.
- Partners with broader internal stakeholders to define architectural possibilities and futures. Works with business and development teams to recommend processes or system design enhancements.
- Collaborates with the technology leadership to define the technology roadmap for the company. Maintains a roadmap that defines path of the company in implementing, adopting, and enhancing the architecture, establishing technical directions and strategies that ensure cross-platform architectural components properly "fit".
- Represents enterprise architecture interests within the enterprise and market successes. Provides periodic informal presentations on technical subjects to internal audiences.
- Implements and maintains governance mechanisms to operationalize enterprise architecture in business and technology decision making. (such as architecture review and documentation processes).
Do you have what it takes?
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or related disciplines or equivalent work experience and technical training.
- 10 years' experience in business system application design, development or enterprise architecture
- 5 years experience defining and implementing application architectures, with experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, operating systems environments
- Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in cloud environments
- Knowledge of architectural platforms and how constraints impact development and operations of systems.
- Ability to analyze, learn, and apply changing technologies as part of integrated solutions to business requirements.
- Ongoing knowledge of current business and technological environments, and the ability to codify different
- Approaches, strategies into a unified architectural blueprint and lead the migration to the new environment.
- Solid analytical problem-solving skills and planning and organizational capabilities
- Experience with transformation strategy, approach, and planning
- Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that can adapt to change.
- Familiarity with business architecture concepts of business capability mapping and value stream analysis
- Familiarity with industry leading frameworks and approaches such as TOGAF, Zachman, Lean EA, etc.
