WHAT'S THE JOB?
We're looking for a position in Landscaping / Snow Removal Skid Steer Operator/ Laborer to join our multidisciplinary team at the Stanton hospital in Yellowknife, NWT!
The principal responsibilities of the RG&L are, to perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties, landscaping, snow removal, waste removal, watering, weeding, planting, repair structures, maintains outside of building, general housekeeping, and emergency response to demand work in the hospital. The RG&L personnel participates in an effective preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all grounds and equipment are in good working conditions.
Other Details:
- This role requires someone with a general knowledge landscaping, general repairs, assembly. Other trades/tickets or certifications are always a bonus. Skid Steer experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle feel or operate objects, tools or controls
- Lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
- Lift 45 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday
- Sweep and clear walkways of debris and snow
- Rake, mulch, and prune grounds as needed
- Exterior safety audits (lighting, furniture, walkways, parking lots)
- This position works 40 hours per week, there may be overtime and on call evenings and weekends required as needed.
- Represent the department with a positive and professional attitude
- Completes assigned tasks in a professional manner and closes the work orders within required timeframe as per Response Time Policy
- Communicate the work status with the client groups via Computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS) within the time frame given in Response Time Policy
- Adhere to and promote the Occupational Health and Safety legislative and corporate requirements
- Keep and maintain records as required
- Participate in educational programs and In-Service training
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- A Great Attitude!
- Valid Class 5 drivers license
- 3-5+ years' experience in a similar position (ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting).
- Solid communications ability (verbal and written)
- Basic computer proficiency, MS Office, CMMS, etc.
- Knowledge of building maintenance, and safety systems
- On-call availability for support as required
- A background Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (Will be provided)
What is also nice to have:
- Possess a trade ticket.
- Bobcat Experience
- Healthcare and/or Hospital experience.
