In this role, you will : 

Responsibility 1 - Communications Planning and Support  

  • Develops and executes CRC external and internal communications plans to support our Communications strategic direction & priorities to further the positive reputation of the Society.
  • Support the Manager, Communications, Emergencies, on identified client group portfolios.
  • Supports the management of issues, reputational risks and opportunities for the Society.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements national communications plans.
  • Provides consultation to departments and geographical regions on communications initiatives related to domestic emergency recovery and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Support the production of national communications products and publications (eg. brochures, advertisements, guides, presentations, videos, speeches).
  • Writes and edits national communications materials as required.
  • Creates and disseminates messaging to support media requests as well as supports the development and training of Society spokespeople.   

Responsibility 2 - Recovery Communications  

  • Acts as or supports the Communications Lead for the recovery operation in developing and disseminating recovery program messaging and other communications tools to deliver accurate public information in a timely fashion.
  • Develops, and implements, promotional strategies, tactics and materials related to recovery programming.
  • Provides support for emergency recovery operations on-site or remotely for crisis management, content gathering, high level field visits, communications training, media relations, as required.
  • Provides ongoing communications support for response milestones and anniversaries.  

        

What we are looking for : 

  • The minimum qualifications for this position are a university degree in communications, marketing or public relations with 5 to 7 years of job-related experience. 
  • Strategic communications and issues management.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment adapting effectively to change.
  • Developing and implementing promotional strategies, with the ability to think strategically and develop creative approaches to address challenges.
  • Previous experience working within a creative/advertising agency is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the needs and workings of TV, print, on-line and radio media in National, Regional and local levels.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging social media channels and the relevance of digital/social channels to advertising and storytelling.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work with employees and volunteers at all levels within the organization and across the country.
  • Exceptional project management skills specific to marketing and communications products, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • First Aid certification, or willingness to take training is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset. 

      

Working Conditions :  

  • The majority of the work is performed from a remote home office. Periodic travel will be required. 
  • Moderate to long hours sitting and using computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to work non-traditional and longer hours, often on short notice, particularly during the timeframe leading up to program launches.
