SALARY RANGE: $122,000.00 - $139,930.00 CAD

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

TYPE OF RIG: DP3 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible, Hercules

ROTATION: 28/28 while in NL

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract, Full Time

CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate Seven (7) Months

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Electrician is responsible for operation and maintenance of electrical systems and instrumentation.

 

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must have completed an appropriate course in Industrial Electrical Technology at a recognized training institution, and apprenticeship experience and/or additional training to the equivalent of that required for a Canadian inter-provincial journeyperson’s certificate.
  • Electronic Technical Officer MOU Surface or STCW Equivalent
  • 1.5 years experience as a Chief Electrician on 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible
  • 7 years experience as a Senior Electrician on 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible
  • 7 years with previous High Voltage and Low Voltage Experience
  • Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams. Able to proficiently use electrical testing meters and equipment. Able to operate software application as applicable to position.

  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all work on electrical installations, including high voltage equipment, is performed in accordance with valid safety regulations, technical regulations, and relevant procedures. Maintain an active approach to electrical safety.
  • Daily operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the electrical equipment and systems of the rig and to ensure its operation.
  • Ensure the electrical installation and equipment is in accordance with regulations.
    • Daily operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the data communications systems (hardware and software) and communications equipment (computer, radio plant, etc.) on the rig and ensure its operation.
    • Ensure the communication systems and its associated equipment is in accordance with regulations.
    • Provide support to users of communication systems and equipment.
  • Carry out and report maintenance in accordance with the maintenance program and report to supervisor any modifications registered.
  • Keep the work area, tools, and parts clean and in good repair.
  • Order, through the immediate superior, any required spare parts for planned and non-planned maintenance and repair.
  • Highlight to supervisor any need for long term actions within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Follow up classing activities and required documentation within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Follow up third party personnel on board within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Primary contact to rig management and onshore technical management within his/her area of responsibility.
  • Observe to uncover any non-compliance and immediately report these to his/her superior.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all work is done safely and professionally and actively take part in safety meetings and other meetings.
  • Emergency duties according to the unit’s emergency organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
