Instructor – Steamfitting\pipefitting

Eastern Trades College is helping to answer the overwhelming demand for trades-people in Atlantic Canada. Eastern Trades College is a division of CompuCollege, a nationally recognized educational institution celebrating over 20 years in Atlantic Canada.

Beginning in January, 2009, our Saint John campus will be offering programs in Construction Electrical, Industrial Electrical, Plumbing, Steamfitting/Pipefitting and Welding.

We are looking for qualified instructors and this is an exciting opportunity for you to pass on the skills you have developed over a number of years in your trade. As a valuable member of the Eastern Trades College faculty you will be responsible for the delivery of instructional materials in both classroom and shop environments. You will facilitate learning and evaluate student progress, plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources in classroom and shop settings, and provide an industry perspective and serve as role model for a class of pre-apprenticeship students. The instructor will liaise with industry, establish an industry program advisory group and keep up with industry developments.

Qualifications:

NB Certificate of Qualification in the Steamfitter/Pipefitter trade or other Provincial/Territorial Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal, minimum grade 12, minimum of three (3) years recent post journey-person experience, broad trade experience, strong written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, the ability to work as a team player and computer skills including Internet, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint and E-Mail.

Desired qualifications include: Red Seal in the Steamfitter/Pipefitter trade, completion of Apprenticeship Certificate, teaching experience such as short courses or apprenticeship block training, Certificate of Adult Education or equivalent and a demonstrated desire to keep up to date in your field of expertise.
