Industrial Engineer

Scanwood Canada Limited is a locally owned manufacturing plant based out of Dartmouth N.S., producing furniture for IKEA. We are well known for our quality work and currently have a great opportunity for someone in the Engineering field.  We are seeking someone to fill the role of Industrial Engineer.

Specific Duties:

Reporting to the Operations Manager this person will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Improving manufacturing efficiency
• Improving cost and product quality by analyzing current methods
• Analyzing operating times at work stations and recommending suggestions that will increase output results
• Offer support to the Materials coordinator
• Work with the company's representative in the areas of Quality and Environment
• Continue with implementation and facilitation of our Productivity Improvement Program 

Skills:

• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Must possess leadership ability
• Strong organizational skills a must
• Demonstrated written communications ability   

Education and Knowledge: 

• Degree in Industrial Engineering
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• 3-5 years experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Strong problem solving skills
• A member of APENS an asset 
• Experience working in a unionized environment an asset
