Environment, Health & Safety Manager

Reporting to the Project Director, this position will ensure that the Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Project operates within the environmental, safety and occupational health boundaries established by applicable regulation and company policy.  The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to provide leadership, technical support and training of staff to coordinate the development and implementation of the Commercial Plant Project's Environmental Health and Safety Plan and to provide advice, assistance, education and training to enable the Owner's Team and the EPCM to achieve accountability for environmental, health and safety management at the construction site.  The incumbent will also be responsible for admininstering the medical services contract at the construction site.  In addition, this position will ensure the necessary licenses and permits for construction and operations are secured.  As well, the incumbent will facilitate the creation of safety systems and processes.
 
As the ideal candidate you must have a post secondary degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science (or equivalent), as well as ten (10) years of experience in the Environment, Health and Safety field in the mining industry.  You should have knowledge of applicable EH&S legislation, EH&S issues in mining industry, environmental compliance & effects monitoring, industrial hygiene assessment and monitoring, hazards assessment and safety programs.  As well, extensive experience dealing with environmental management and monitoring in a mining or industrial facility would be an asset.  You must have excellent communication skills combined with superior organizational skills to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment under minimal supervision.
