Water and Wastewater Operator

The town of Rothesay has a population of 12,000 and is one of the most attractive living environments in Atlantic Canada.  The Town seeks to provide an exemplary level of services to its citizens and incorporates membrane filtration technology in the Rothesay Water Treatment Plant. 

The Town is currently seeking resumes from qualified persons who are interested in the full-time position of Water and Wastewater Operator.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Water and Wastewater Operations, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town's water and wastewater systems. This position requires the incumbent to perform hands-on operation and maintenance activities in the Water and Wastewater Department which includes the operation and process control of one water treatment plant and two wastewater treatment facilities, water booster stations, wastewater pumping stations, equipment with respect to the described stations, and the monitoring of potable water wells through testing and operating systems in conformance with the Town's Certificates of Approval to Operate.

Qualifications:

• Community college diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Instrumentation Technology, or Process Control Technology;
• Certified CET or eligible for certification;
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in Municipal Operations, Process Control or equivalent;
• Eligible for Certification Level 1 in Water Treatment and Water Distribution;
• Eligible for Certification Level 1 in Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection;
• Good working knowledge of computers and various software applications including Microsoft Office, SCADA, Instrumentation and Process Control and Allen-Bradley PLC Logic.
