There is considerable stress associated with providing day-to-day care for an individual who has an intellectual disability.  Caregivers require intervals of rest to recharge their batteries and help meet the challenges of parenting. Opal Family Services recruits volunteers to provide this respite time allowing parents and caregivers to relax and rejuvenate, while knowing their child is being well cared for.

Opal Family Services, which operates under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, is recruiting an Executive Director.

As Executive Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the case management team and office staff, providing leadership, mentorship, training and supervision.  Your duties will also include: securing ongoing funding through donations, fundraising and grants; communicating with stakeholders and the general public; marketing Opal Family Services; recruiting volunteers and families for the Opal programs; and growing the organization based on the strategic direction provided by the Board of Directors. 

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• 2 years of  management or program direction experience with a not-for-profit organization;
• Post secondary education in a human services field;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Experience operating revenue generating activities and securing grant funding;
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills;
• Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors
• Competency with Microsoft Office
• A  driver's licence

Asset qualifications include: Written and spoken competence in French and English; experience working with families who have children with disabilities; access to a personal vehicle.

Salary Range: $40,000 – $44,000 annually – depending on experience and education.
