Position: Recreation Therapist - Rehab Services
Type: Part-Time 60% (Average of 45 hours/pay period)
Position Scope:
Responsible for providing Recreation Therapy service to clients/patients of South West Health particularly in the Veteran's Unit, with the Stroke Program and other services as indicated. The Recreation Therapist will exhibit sound professional judgement and initiative for managing the clinical caseload and coordinating delivery of therapeutic recreation clinical services. Will work with individual patients to assess leisure functioning and interests and develop individualized/group recreation treatment plans and provide leisure education/counseling services. Travel within the District will be required and will be paid as per District policy.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy
- Candidates must be licensed to work as Recreation Therapist in Nova Scotia
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, supervising and communicating both verbally and in writing
- Must be adaptable and flexible to adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Previous experience in acute care an asset
