Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Recommend automation solutions to a specific problem
• Participate in safety risk assessments and design safety system to mitigate the risks
• Co-ordinate new electrical and controls schematics
• Specify components for the application
• PLC programming
• HMI programming
• VFD programming / integration
• Establish new communications networks
• Commissioning support services

Graduate of recognized 2-yr Electrical Engineering Technology program
• Must be eligible for registration with APENS (Engineers Nova Scotia) or TechNova
• Three to five years experience
• Should possess good technical writing skills and have a working a knowledge of industrial facilities
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley automation systems (PLC, SLC, ControlLogix)
• Knowledge of communication networks (DH+, RIO, DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP)
• Knowledge of drives (AC/DC/Motion)
• Field experience is a definite asset
• Working knowledge of CEC, NFPA79 and CSA Z432 codes and standards
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
