Experienced Survey Crew Chief

Terrain Group is an established and growing multidisciplinary company that provides engineering, planning and surveying services across Atlantic Canada from offices in Saint John, Moncton, Dartmouth, and Edmonton.

Our Company is a leader in the provision of consulting services for residential and commercial development and is increasingly providing a broad range of engineering, surveying and planning services to a growing number of private and public service clients throughout Atlantic Canada.

We are currently seeking to add an Experienced Survey Crew Chief to our team of highly skilled professionals in our Saint John office.  The successful candidate will be responsible for survey fieldwork on a wide range of surveying and engineering projects.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the daily activities of a survey field crew
• Operating survey instruments and devices
• Construction layout and quality control
• Cutting and monumentation of boundary lines
• Caring for and maintaining survey equipment
• Preparing detailed field notes of survey activities

Qualifications and Skills:

• Successfully completed a recognized Survey Technology program or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years experience as a crew chief
• Demonstrated willingness to learn is essential
• Ability to function within a team environment essential
• Highly motivated self starter
• Familiarity with engineering, architectural and survey plans
• Familiarity with concepts of surfaces, contours, alignments, and profiles
• Knowledge of general survey procedures
• Familiarity with line creation by azimuth/distance and work with curves based on coordinate geometry
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Attention to detail essential
• Previous experience performing construction layout and legal surveys preferred
