Supply Chain Lead

Halifax Shipyard is a Division of Irving Shipbuilding Inc. which specializes in new ship construction, ship repair, ship conversion and vessel refits.  We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated and self directed individual to work with a team of buyers in the acquisition of goods and services for our various internal divisions with a focus on cost savings and adding value for our customers.

This opportunity will provide you with direct hands on supply chain management experience associated with the procurement of goods, including requests for quotations, quote analysis, negotiation, purchase order placement, and contract management.

Responsibilities:

• Negotiation of commercial supply agreements that provide our customers the most value. Which may include the following:
  • Reverse Auctions
  • Face to Face Negotiations
  • International Sourcing
  • Market /Commodity Research
  • Implementation of Consignment Agreements
  • Leading Change, etc…
• Identification & Implementation of cost reduction strategies and supply chain improvements.
• Working with a team of supply chain professionals to achieve business objective.
• Development & Maintenance of Supplier relationships.
• Provision of exceptional customer service to our internal divisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Educational Requirements:

• The successful candidate must have excellent communication and negotiation skills and enjoy working in a fast paced, team environment.
• Post Secondary Education completion is an asset, but not a requirement.
• The successful candidate must be customer focused, enthusiastic, and motivated.
• The successful candidate must act as a business innovator, be technologically inclined and committed to their own professional development.
