Marine-Mechanical Engineer
Irving Shipbuilding Inc's primary office is located at the Halifax Shipyard with other locations in the Maritime Provinces. The company has been carrying out ship repair, building quality ships and fabricated modules for over 100 yrs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review and comment on design agent drawings as they pertain to vessel mechanical systems consisting of prime movers, propulsion, auxiliary and ancillary, and HVAC equipment and systems
- Prepare mechanical equipment specifications
- Research and liaise with mechanical equipment vendors in order to provide Vendor Furnished Information as required by the design agent
- Perform technical evaluation of proposed mechanical equipment and systems
- Identify design/build issues working with design agent engineers and production
Experience & Education Requirements – Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years experience in a Marine related environment with knowledge in vessel mechanical equipment and systems
- Familiar with Classification Society Rules
- Familiar with Flag Requirements
- Familiar with Class Certificates and/or Type Approvals
- Shipyard experience a plus
