Marine Outfitting Technologist

Irving Shipbuilding Inc's primary office is located at the Halifax Shipyard with other locations in the Maritime Provinces.  The company has been carrying out ship repair, building quality ships and fabricated modules for over 100 yrs.  The company's commitment to Health, Safety and care for its employees and the environment is an integral part of our business.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review and comment on design agent drawings as they pertain to vessel outfitting consisting of interior and accommodation furnishings, interior design and HVAC installations
• Prepare outfitting equipment specifications
• Research and liaise with outfitting equipment vendors in order to provide Vendor Furnished Information as required by the design agent
• Perform technical evaluation of proposed outfitting equipment

Experience & Education Requirements – Knowledge & Skills:

• Diploma in Marine Engineering or equivalent
• 5 years experience in a Marine related environment with knowledge in vessel accommodation and outfitting
• Familiar with Classification Society Rules
• Familiar with Flag Requirements
• Familiar with Class Certificates and/or Type Approvals
• Shipyard experience a plus
