Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, and one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, has an immediate opening for a QAQC/Project Manager for its fish Traceability program known as ‘Offspring’.

The Company prides itself in sustainable farming and production practices in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and the State of Maine as well as the production and sales of high quality products through a number of brands and sales offices in New Brunswick, New York, New Jersey, Quebec, Ontario, Philadelphia and Massachusetts.
This new position, based in Oak Bay, New Brunswick, will work with all levels of Fresh Water Management and external agencies to manage the Offspring fish traceability project and to integrate it with our Fish Health, Environmental and Quality plans in support of a ‘Quality Management System’ for all Freshwater Operations from Broodstock to smolt. It is a key requirement that this QMS is of a superior quality, such that it will allow the highest level of ‘International Accreditation’ under such schemes as IQFC/SQF or ISO or similar. The QMS will help to raise CAI’s profile and give it greater standing on the World stage in Aquaculture and as a ‘quality’ Seafood producer.
Duties will include:
- Maintaining inventory of all brood-stock fish
- Establishing protocols for control and tracking of these fish within hatcheries
- Maintenance of a central database containing tracking information
- Ensuring appropriate reporting and timelines are met
- Performing verification of established protocols
- Working with US Operations Compliance Manager
- Integration of fish tracking into larger whole chain traceability system
- Project management of ‘Offspring’ project (ensuring deliverables are met on time)
- Supervision of junior and technical staff
- Working with live fish
The successful candidate will have a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Science and Project Management experience. Previous experience is an aquaculture setting or relevant education, experience with databases and electronic data would be considered an asset.
