Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse on 8.4 is a member of a highly integrated interdisciplinary team. The interdisciplinary team is accountable to meet the care needs of individuals who are frail, while involving caregivers and community

The RN utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span. The RN is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care. The RN provides clinical leadership particularly when patient care needs are complex or unpredictable. The RN has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence based nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient outcomes. The RN supports the development of students and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoing mentorship. The RN contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the unit, coordination of patient care and staffing. The RN accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs and research and continuous quality improvement activities. The RN practices according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia Standards of Nursing Practice and specialty standards as applicable and the policies and procedures of the Capital District Health Authority.

The RN on 8.4 will be required to work with patients with acute medical needs ranging from low to moderate acuity as well as and those patients requiring an Intermediate Care setting.

Qualifications:
* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
* Current registration in the province of Nova Scotia
* Completion of an approved IMCU Care Course an asset
* Mechanical ventilation and cardiac monitoring experience preferred
* Shared competencies: port-a-cath, triple lumens, PICC lines, endotracheal tube care, and intravenous are assets
* Telemetry experience an asset
* Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, clinical and technical skills

Hours of Work:
* Six Permanent Full-time Positions; 75 hours bi-weekly
* Shift work

Salary: Registered Nurse
$27.6721 - $32.4675 Hourly

RNs with 25 years of service may be eligible for an hourly rate of $33.6039
