Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse is accountable to the Health Services Manager or delegate on an assigned nursing unit and is responsible for the provision of nursing care to assigned patients under the direction of the Health Services Manager (planning, implementing, and evaluating care given). The registered nurse may supervise and direct activities of other nursing staff as required and will be delegated responsibility as charge nurse on any shift required. The Coronary Care Unit/IMCU is a 30 bed dynamic ICU/IMCU (12 CCU beds and 18 IMCU beds) Many of the patients are admitted as emergency admissions. The population includes cardiac patients such as acute myocardial infarction, post cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, acute congestive heart failure and patients with complications following cardiac catheterization. Senior staff assume a leadership role but are responsible for direct patient care. Registered Nurses are assigned individual patients according to their level of expertise, skills, the acuity of the patient illness and workload. Total patient care is the nursing care delivery system. CCU and IMCU is the tertiary referral centre for Nova Scotia, PEI and receives approximately 75 CCU and 125 IMCU admissions per month, creating a high turnover of acutely ill patients.
Qualifications:
*Graduate of a accredited school of nursing and be eligible for registration in Nova Scotia
*Critical Care experience required
*Completion of Critical Care nursing course an asset
*Cardiology experience an asset
*Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
Hours of Work:
* 4 Permanent Full-Time Positions; 75 hours bi-weekly
Salary: Registered Nurse
$27.6721 -$32.4675 hourly
$33.6039/hr with 25 years nursing experience
