Licensed Practical Nurse

Facility: Soldiers Memorial Hospital 
Program: Nursing  - VAC Unit 
Type: Permanent Part-Time 40%

Position Scope:  Accountable to the Nurse Manager VAC Unit to provide safe, competent patient care within the recognized scope of practice of the LPN, utilizing the nursing process and in accordance with the Mission, Standards, Policies and Procedures of AVDHA.  To assist in the delivery of long-term geriatric resident care on a Veteran's Unit, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide safe, competent patient care within the recognized scope of practice of the LPN, taking into consideration the physical, psycho-social and spiritual needs of the individuals and their families.

Qualifications:

  • LPN currently licensed in the province of N.S.
  • Current CPR certification (annual re-certification required)
  • Successful completion of recognized physical assessment course.
  • Recent and relevant experience in a long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated competencies in working with a team approach to care, with the philosophy of maximizing patients self care abilities.
  • Demonstrated competencies in providing safe care for patients, within the practice of least restraint.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
  • Exemplary work history demonstrated in current and past employment.
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to relate well to residents and families in a long-term stay environment with a pleasant and cooperative attitude.
  • Willingness to work on other inpatient units if necessary.
  • Available to work all shifts.

As per current CUPE collective agreement.
Position to commence as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
