Duties:
This job exists to provide research, policy analysis and advice in support of division and department priorities for Nova Scotia's culture sector. This includes undertaking research or analysing existing theoretical and applied research, environmental scanning, and trend analysis which assists the division in developing strategic direction, priority setting and investment decisions. Under the direction of the Senior Policy Advisor, responsibilities also include: advising on various issues such as program design, implementation and evaluation; drafting briefing materials and correspondence for senior management, Deputy Minister and Minister; assisting with coordination of divisional responses to government initiatives or information requests; supporting the business planning process; and ongoing networking and research into developing strategic research partnerships. There is a communications role coordinating internet and intranet sites, producing electronic bulletins, responding to information requests and providing on going research and professional support capabilities to the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree with at least three years related experience or Master's Degree with one year experience in research and development. The candidate must have a broad knowledge of Nova Scotia government policies and initiatives. The person must be a well organized self-starter, work comfortably in a corporate environment and be able to identify information needs. Knowledge of PowerPoint, Windows, WordPerfect and Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A high degree of confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement is needed, including problem solving skills. Paramount is the ability to set and meet deadlines. The incumbent must ensure a high level of security and confidentiality at all times. Experience with the culture sector is considered an asset.
Classification Range: PR 10
Salary Range: $45,683 to $ 55,731
