Senior Manager, Fundraising
Coady International Institute
Endroit : Antigonish

The Coady International Institute, North America's only specialized institution dedicated to the professional education of development leaders, has been called Canada's best kept secret. But it is no secret to Coady's 5,000+ graduates.  They are working with millions of people in over 130 countries to build the fair, prosperous and secure world that Canadians want for ourselves and others.  The Coady Institute works with innovative people and organizations to create effective and practical solutions to reduce global poverty and injustice.  Coady accomplishes this by providing transformative learning experiences that equip international development leaders with new knowledge, practical skills and a renewed commitment that they take back to their communities in order to build better societies.

We are now poised to establish the next generation Coady Institute – the world class Canadian Centre of Excellence that all progressive development practitioners, teachers, organizations, and investors will look to first for knowledge, innovation, leadership and results.  We envisage the Coady Institute as a centre-piece in the success of Canada's future development agenda.

The Opportunity

Coady recently completed a very successful $15 Million private sector campaign with unprecedented support that will allow relocation to a re-developed Coady International Centre at the centre of the StFX campus.  As we expand our footprint of potential supporters, we seek a Senior Manager, Fundraising to help us build on the momentum we have established, the demand we have ignited, and the capacity we have developed.

Reporting to and working closely with the Vice-President/Coady Director and Coady's volunteer leaders, our new Senior Manager, Fundraising will establish a fund development strategy to allow us to bridge from and build on our previous campaign achievements.  A blue-sky thinker who can translate opportunity and vision into tactics, procedures and results, the Senior Manager will lead our staff and volunteer team forward in implementing plans that will create further philanthropic success for the Coady.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and competent fundraiser who possesses a breadth of experience in all areas of philanthropy, particularly in major gifts, and preferably as a professional practitioner.  The Senior Manager will be an innovative individual who understands and appreciates the science of fundraising, and who excels at the art of it.  Outstanding in the role of director and stage manager, the successful candidate will be equally comfortable playing the role of supporting actor or leading character, shifting easily between these roles as the situation demands.

Exceptionally well-organized and focused, the Senior Manager will be a steadfast partner capable of working autonomously while keeping the leadership, staff and volunteers informed and engaged.  Intelligent, inquisitive, and understanding of the complexities in a multifaceted academic environment, the Senior Manager will be an adaptable and collaborative team-player who engenders trust, respect, and confidence.

Socially agile and adept at dealing with all levels of individuals, the Senior Manager will be an articulate and engaging communicator who speaks and writes in a compelling and professional manner.  The ideal candidate will embrace the idea of living and working in a campus environment located in a beautiful and vibrant part of Atlantic Canada.
