Summer Students – Sales & Marketing Department
(2- Halifax/Dartmouth & 1 - Amherst, NS)

Heritage Gas is seeking three summer students for a 4-month assignment, commencing on May 12th.  Two positions are located in Halifax/Dartmouth and the third position is based in Amherst, Nova Scotia.  The summer students will assist the Sales Team and the Company with various marketing campaigns to build the customer base within assigned areas and to deliver our Call Before You Dig message to various stakeholders along our natural gas distribution lines.

The responsibilities of the summer students may include some or all of the following:

• To provide information to customers and potential customers/stakeholders along our existing natural gas distribution lines or those areas contiguous thereto;
• Assist the sales team in identifying potential customers.  This could involve taking ownership in an identified territory and identifying as many potential customers as possible by knocking on doors for customer interest and/or awareness;
• Help build customer loyalty within assigned territory by participating in various marketing campaigns as directed by the Sales Team;
• Educate stakeholders on our Call Before You Dig Program; and
• Provide timely communication and follow up to Sales or Operations Teams.

The successful individual will possess some, if not all, of the following qualifications:   

• Currently enrolled as a full-time university student or a recent university graduate from a recognized program;
• Ability and willingness to work outside;
• Resident of (or at least very familiar with) assigned territory;
• Experience in responding to customer inquiries;
• Self-motivated; projects a positive and professional image;
• Excellent verbal communication skills;
• Excellent Microsoft Office capabilities– Excel or Access;
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment using excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with a diverse group of individuals; and
• A valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver's license (no vehicle is provided with this position).
