Headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, our client is an activist investment company with significant holdings in several public entities and subsidiaries that operate in the freight transportation, international shipping, real estate and information technology industries.
The company is seeking a Vice President and General Counsel.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, your responsibilities will include managing legal issues and directing the company's public disclosure, regulatory compliance and corporate governance systems. You will also provide strategic advice on investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial matters, disputes and litigation proceedings. In addition to being a results-oriented individual who is known for attention to detail and responsiveness, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Admitted, or be eligible to be admitted, to the Bar in Nova Scotia,
- Minimum of five years' experience as a corporate and/or securities lawyer,
- Proven track record of effectively handling multiple projects simultaneously and an ability to work productively in a fast-paced, complex environment,
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present insight and actionable recommendations in a concise and confident manner.
