Security Officer (Shift Supervisor)
Safety & Security Department

Description:

  • allocate full- and part-time staff to security duties
  • monitor performance of shift personnel
  • first response to emergency situations including fire, security intrusion, bomb threats, medical emergencies, and hazardous chemical spills – provide traffic and crowd control and ensure safety of personnel and property
  • investigate violations of campus policies and procedures; collect and preserve evidence
  • provide information and/or guidance to callers, and determine requirements for after-hour services and emergency response
  • routine patrols and inspection of residence and academic buildings for fire, safety and security hazards
  • coordinate traffic and parking program
  • monitor state-of-the-art intrusion and fire alarm, digital video and access control systems; coordinate appropriate responses

Qualifications:

  • graduate of a nationally recognized police and/or security training program
  • 5 years related work experience preferred
  • must possess a Class 5 Driver's License
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • experience dealing with young adults from culturally diverse backgrounds an asset
  • familiarity with state-of-the-art alarm, CCTV, and access control systems
  • proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • willing to work a 42 hour/week shift schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays

Starting Salary Range:

  • $36,867 - $41,527 per annum, based on 42 hour/week shift schedule
