Position: Legal Administrative Assistants – Fulltime and Summer Positions

Type: Permanent/Full Time
The Halifax office of McInnes Cooper, Atlantic Canada's largest single law partnership, is currently looking to hire several Legal Administrative Assistants to join our float pool as full-time permanent employees. We are also looking to hire several candidates for the summer term from mid-April to early September.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing legal administrative assistance to all departments as replacement assistants to cover illnesses, vacations and other absences;
- Assisting assigned assistants and other staff members with day-to-day overflow work;
- Preparing legal documents as defined by the area(s) of law requesting assistance; and
- Performing other duties as assigned by Human Resources.
Experience and Educational Requirement:
- Formal training as a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant or equivalent experience;
- Solid working knowledge of legal terminology and procedures in litigation, labour, corporate, and property law is preferred;
- Superior organizational skills and excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills;
- Computer skills including Word is required;
- Experience with Legal Vision would be considered an asset;
- Ability to willingly adapt quickly and efficiently to changing environments is essential.
