Staff Lawyer / Corporate Services Manager

Our client is Atlantic Canada's largest regional law firm.  They are seeking a Corporate Services Manager to lead their Corporate Services Department in Saint John.  This is a staff lawyer position which requires an interesting blend of legal skills and business management experience.  Reporting to the firm's leadership team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing your corporate legal experience through direct client work and working with the firm's corporate lawyers in areas such as incorporation, registration, amalgamation and general corporate law both provincially and federally.

  • Development of strategies and systems to facilitate the operations of a busy corporate services practice and to expand services provided to clients.

  • Supervising the daily activities of a staff of legal support specialists.

  • Providing human resource assistance to the firm through your involvement in professional development, performance management, hiring processes and retention strategies for your group.

  • Business management including billing, budgeting and assessing financial performance.

  • Representing the interests of the firm's corporate services group internally and externally by organising and participating in conferences and events.

This is an ideal role for a practicing lawyer who wants to contribute to the growth and success of a firm in a diverse and exciting staff role. You understand the value of strong team relationships and work effectively with others to achieve outcomes.

The successful candidate is a client-oriented lawyer with experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. Candidates must have experience in corporate/commercial law, excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail. They should be members of, or eligible for admission to, the Law Society of New Brunswick. ENACT corporate software experience and French language skills would be desirable.
