Our Claims Department is currently seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Casualty Unit as a Senior Claims Adjuster.

Summary
The incumbent will Investigate and evaluate claims of moderate to high complexity to determine coverage available to policyholders and claimants.  The incumbent will process eligible claims and document claims files, and provide efficient and timely service to all customers while working under moderate supervision.

Job Duties

• Provides timely, professional and efficient service to all customers to meet corporate service objectives
• Assembles information on new, transferred and ongoing claims of moderate to high complexity for the purposes of evaluating the scope of the loss, appropriate coverage and indemnification to effectively manage loss and expense costs
• Analyzes information gathered on coverage, liability and quantum, and audits claims of moderate to high complexity submitted to verify authenticity and appropriateness
• Applies policy, legislation and company guidelines to all claims of moderate to high complexity to manage loss costs and customer relations
• Processes and documents claims payments promptly according to company guidelines, obtaining authority from appropriate claims specialist or unit manager, to maximize loss cost management
• Identifies highly complex claims for immediate transfer to the claims specialist for special handling

Skill and Experience Required

• Education: Minimum — (A) High school diploma (enrollment in CIP program an asset) with specified experience (A).  (B) Three year degree/diploma with specified experience (B).
• Experience: Minimum — (A) Three years of claims handling experience, or related technical experience.  (B) Two years of relevant claims handling experience.
• Technical Skills:  Knowledge of word processing and Windows based software products.  Basic math, reading and writing skills.  Ability to deal with people and communicate effectively by telephone.  Technical skills related to relevant type of claims.
• Performance Skills: Analytical, written and spoken communications, problem solving.
