Branch Manager

My client, a leading federally regulated Canadian Trust company, is currently seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead their existing underwriting team and will take responsibility for service, planning, coaching and development. Responsibilities:
- Work with Regional Sales Manager to ensure all targets are being met as per business plan
- Lead and coach all underwriting activities while continuing to build and maintain a well trained, motivated, professional staff
- Ensure underwriting process and pricing model is being followed by all team members
- Price applications in excess of Underwriters limits and provide creative solutions to unique situations
- Ongoing review of staff performance and staffing needs
- Work with Regional sales Manager to analyze business opportunities and create plans to maintain continuity, growth and attainment of sales objectives by identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with Mortgage Brokers
- Liaise with Credit- and Funding Department and recommend plans/procedures to achieve service objectives through monitoring effectiveness of current programs and work on new and improved programs
- Regularly review performance of individuals and team in relation to performance, targets, goals and provides feedback
- Manage the customer escalation process and recommend changes to processes, act as a contact for the broker on these issues as necessary
Skills & Abilities:
- Clearly conveys goals and expectations to others; is available to provide support and up-to-date information to others when needed
- Understands and assesses risk when reviewing residential mortgage appraisals
- Demonstrates negotiation and sales skills
- Demonstrates relationship development skills
- Assessing and decision 20+ applications per day
- Communicates clearly both in writing and verbally, to both individuals and groups
- Demonstrates interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing working environment
- Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Creative thinker who is able to see and develop innovative ideas and solutions in a highly competitive and evolving environment
Desired Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years experience in a leadership role
- A proven record in underwriting management and client service
- Experience in financial industry is essential
