Underwriter - Construction and Contracting
Atlantic Region

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assume the role of Underwriter in a dynamic team environment within the Construction & Contracting Segments. The successful candidate will be required to work in a positive team environment and contribute to the achievement of a profitable book of business.

What you will achieve in this role:

• Underwrite Commercial Property/Casualty policies within the given Underwriting License Authority
• Research and gather facts and determine consequences of a course of action
• Analyze broker information to ensure continued profitability

What you need to know and what experience you need to have for this role:

• Excellent customer service skills to service both our internal and external customers
• A team player motivated to help the team achieve its goals
• Must be motivated and enthusiastic
• Well organized and able to set priorities and follow through with commitments
• Sound problem solving and decision making skills to accurately assess exposures and determine pricing
• Sound working knowledge of policy and endorsement forms and company manuals and procedures
• Keeping a positive attitude during times of change in the insurance industry and market cycles
• Strong PC (computer) abilities including Microsoft Excel
• Experience in underwriting of Course of Construction (COC) and Wrap Up risks would be an asset
• Exposure to high hazard operations is an asset

What education is best for this role:

• University degree, college diploma or related experience an asset
• You are working towards the CIP and/or FCIP designation an asset
