Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible to lead and/or participate in all facets of compensation and classification including job analysis, job evaluation, client service, training and development, research, compensation planning, policy administration and review and providing expert advice and testimony on compensation and classification related issues within the Government of Nova Scotia. The Consultant is responsible to lead and/or participate in projects as well as work with client departments to assist in the achievement of their business objectives, while promoting corporate consistency and equity.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in a related field with three to five years experience in the delivery of compensation, classification, job analysis and client service; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. A professional designation (ie CHRP or IPMA or CCP) will be considered an asset. A strong analytical background is required with a familiarity with research methodologies, solution based problem-solving, project management and the use of spreadsheet software applications. Strong written and oral communication, consultation and facilitation skills are necessary attributes for the job. The position requires a self-starter with a proven track record in building and maintaining positive working relationships as well as having the ability to positively contribute to the broader team. The successful candidate must be able to exercise sound judgement and decision making in a fast paced environment. Experience working in a unionized environment along with a working knowledge of government policies and procedures, collective agreements and compensation theory and practices is preferred. Some travel may be required. The successful candidate must be willing to work towards obtaining the CCP designation.

Salary Range: $58,979 - $76,673
