Payroll/Benefits Manager

Are you looking for the opportunity to be actively involved in organizational policy/procedure development?  Are you the kind of person who, when faced with a challenge, is persistent, assertive, and persuasive?  Are you a problem solver who thrives on new and ever-changing work challenges?  If so, the OSCO Construction Group has an opportunity for you.  We currently have a Payroll/Benefits Manager career opportunity available in our Saint John, NB location.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Development – identify and document existing processes.  Analyze and implement improvements to ensure more efficient performance of the payroll department;
  • Payroll/Benefits Remittances – identify and organize all scheduled remittances to suppliers and government in a timely manner following strict deadlines;
  • Technology Champion – embrace opportunities to develop our ERP System (JD Edwards One World) through liaison with IT and end users to ensure all payroll modules are being optimized;
  • Benefit/Payroll Administration – ensure compliance of all contractual and legislative obligations related to payroll and benefits;
  • Internal Control – develop audit checklist and conduct regular audits of the payroll and benefit administration processes;
  • Staff Management – daily management of the payroll/benefits team focusing on training & development, coaching & mentoring with the goal of developing a team of Payroll Analysts

Qualifications:

  • Must possess strong, positive communication skills and have ability to communicate effectively in conflict situations;
  • Must be passionate about process improvement, be inquisitive and a proven problem solver;
  • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in MS Office is required with exposure to JD Edwards/People Soft software being an definite asset;
  • Excellent business writing and grammar skills with the ability to create documents based on limited information;
  • Detail-oriented with objective decision making ability;
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in an extremely fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
  • Proven sense of urgency and ability to balance priorities without sacrificing deadlines.
